This way of life lasts until one day, Monday fails to return home. Each of the seven girls can only leave the house on the day of their name. The children's grandfather, Terrence, ( Willem Dafoe) names the children after the days of the week, and trains them to appear as one person - Karen Settman ( Noomi Rapace), named after their mother. In the Settman family, Karen Settman gives birth to seven identical sisters, and dies during childbirth.
